SBISD Board of Trustees calls for changes to proposed Uniform GPA rules
The Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a resolution calling for changes to proposed rules issued by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for determining a high school student’s grade point average.
Among other proposed changes, Texas high school students would no longer receive extra credit for Pre-Advanced Placement and Pre-International Baccalaureate course work or for Career and Technical Education classes.
In its Sept. 22 resolution, the SBISD Board of Trustees states that it “believes that there are substantial modifications that should be made to the proposed rules prior to the implementation of the standard method for calculating a student’s high school grade point average.”
The Board of Trustees also requests that the state’s Higher Education Coordinating Board withdraw its current proposed rules and create a committee with both elementary and secondary level representation to determine appropriate rules for implementing House Bill 3851.
