The SBISD
February 2005
Employee of the Month is:
Norma Arthurs
Executive Administrator
for Community Involvement
Her nomination read, in part:
Norma is long overdue for recognition of her consistent and tireless dedication to the Assessment, Accountability and Research Department and to SBISD. She has been here since the TASP test (in the 1980's) and will probably still be here after TAKS is gone.
Every year, the assessment system has become larger and more complex. Norma has been flexible and adapted well to all the nuances of each test that is conducted. She demonstrates leadership in her knowledge of the testing system, her ability to get data for people and her knack for corralling information from campuses when needed.
Norma serves as the backbone for campuses during testing time. She is essential in making sure all campuses have the tests and supplies they need. She also checks each and every box to make sure all campuses organized their material properly. Most importantly, she is there if a mishap occurs.
Norma has a strong personality that is well suited to handle the stress her job can bring--for calming the anxiety testing can give campuses, the ability to impart knowledge or wisdom when appropriate and to be a friend when there is a need.
She is a pillar in our department and we would be lost without her."
