The SBISD
March 2005
Employee of the Month is:
Kenneth Thuesen
Vocational Technology Teacher
Spring Woods Middle School
His nomination read, in part:
"For 30 years, Ken has taught students skills they can use long after their school years are over. He has always been energetic, funny and hard-working. Anytime something needs repairing, Ken is there first. He is the perfect role model for his student because he shows them what beautiful things they can make as long as they work diligently.
In his class, Ken works with students to produce something from start to finish. Students' self-worth is increased by the way he teaches them skills and supports them through the process. He gives them something concrete and they display their projects with pride.
He starts his day early in the morning and is very flexible if he's needed to help cover a class or handle an unexpected situation. We also rely on Ken to repair or mend all kinds of equipment if the need arises. At home, he is a Boy Scout leader and very involved in scouting activities.
Spring Woods Middle would not be the same positive place without Ken Thuesen."
