Employee of the Month is:
Jim
Herrington
Counselor
Spring Woods Middle School
His nomination read, in part:
“Jim Herrington is the definition of
a caring and competent counselor. He has the
highest expectations of all students and greets
them by name, since he has a personal connection
with many from the after-school program.
Jim has created such a supportive climate
for learning in our school that student behavior
has improved through the years. He has brought
the parents together and invited them into
the school, creating a link for the community
to feel comfortable being at Spring Woods.
His legacy will be the Spring Woods After
School Program funded by the 21st Century
grant. Our discipline referrals have gone
down, our student band success at UIL contests
has soared, the ESL students are learning
English faster, and even their parents are
participating in an evening English program
when the library is open on Tuesday and Thursday
evening.
Jim is an asset to our building and our profession.”
