Dr. Barry Bishop with Library Information Services and Spring Woods Middle School Principal, Cynthia Chai, join in congratulating Cheryl Laucher as the SBISD November Employee of the Month.

Her nomination read, in part:

“Since coming to our campus, Cheryl has made the library into a haven for students to experience the adventures of reading. It is more than a quiet place to check out books and return to class. It has become the hub of activity not only during school hours, but also before and after school.

Cheryl is the type of librarian I always wished I had as a child—gentle, helpful, kind and always welcoming everyone with a bright smile on her face, no matter how early or late in the day. Beginning at 6:30 each school day, students are free to play educational games on the computer, sit comfortably in the cozy reading nook, play chess or checkers, or work on classroom assignments.

She is a Campus Improvement Team member, technology facilitator, professional growth trainer and advocate for children. She always knows what authors to recommend or websites to check out to help students with their research. Cheryl’s innovation, enthusiasm, compassion and tireless devotion to students and staff are evident in everything she does.”
