Northbrook Middle School has four of the most amazing volunteers. They are Alicia Lopez, Maria Hernandez, Juana Perez, and Norma Cardenas. They're affectionately known as the "Fantastic Four."
Two of these wonderful volunteers don't even have children at Northbrook Middle School. These four ladies can be found at NBMS on a daily basis. They begin their day ready to learn English at 8:30 am.
Then they do whatever is asked of them. They can be found in the parent center laminating and preparing educational aids for teachers, or in the homemaking kitchen preparing delicious lunches for the teachers and staff. These ladies spear-headed the preparation and serving of an appreciation luncheon for 50 mentors and mentees at Thanksgiving time. In February they prepared and served dinner to over 100 mentors, mentees, and their families. They also bake cakes and cupcakes for the students for special occasions.
The "Fantastic Four" also stay after school and assist with a variety of student activities. They not only want their children to be successful but they are truly interested in helping all children to be successful. They are role models for all parents and volunteers. We are honored to recognize the Northbrook Middle School "Fantastic Four" - Alicia Lopez, Maria Hernandez, Juana Perez, and Norma Cardenas as the March 2010 Volunteers of the Month.
