November 2009 Volunteer of the Month

Dawn DixonSuzie Jones

Dawn Dixon is a parent of three small children but still finds time to give unselfishly of herself to the students and staff at Hunters Creek Elementary.  Last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, she purchased and donated food and clothing for children who came to Hunters Creek from Galveston.

This year she has taken on the tasks of organizing the class auction art projects, overseeing teacher wish lists and coordinating the school’s Open House dinner which yielded record results under her guidance. She also finds time to be the room mother in her daughter’s second grade classroom.

Dawn’s energy is contagious! Where Dawn is involved, others want to get involved. The campus attributes this “infectious volunteerism” to Dawn’s outgoing, giving personality. Her smile and giving heart coupled with her willingness to step in when others are unable to do so make her a welcome volunteer anywhere in the school.

Her hard work, leadership, positive attitude and endless energy in support of the students and staff of Hunters Creek Elementary make Dawn Dixon a most deserving SBISD Volunteer of the Month.
