March 2005 Volunteer of the Month |
|
Miriam Ceceila Olivares
If you looked up the definition of “parental involvement” in the dictionary, you might just find a picture of our March Volunteer of the Month. Ms. Olivares is the embodiment of full parental involvement at Buffalo Creek. She arrives early each day at 6:30am , putting in more than eight hours a day without complaint. She volunteers all-day and then on top of that she assists with the after school program, doing whatever necessary to make it run smoothly. She is eager to help the teachers with whatever they need, promptly, with a smile, and hand delivers all of the work to their classroom! Ms. Olivares makes every student feel special and their faces light up whenever she enters a room. They affectionately refer to her as “Ms. Ceci.” One thing that was constant in “Ms. Ceci's” nomination letters is that she is always happy, smiling, and makes everyone around her feel wonderful! She is a role model to other parents who have been hesitant to become involved in school activities, and has recruited many to volunteer as well. The support that she gives her son and daughter for their academic achievement is an example to be followed. Her smiling face is often the first smile to greet students and staff when they arrive. “She is pure sunshine to the students and staff!” Ms. Miriam Olivares is greatly valued and appreciated by everyone at Buffalo Creek Elementary, and in SBISD. We are pleased to award her as Spring Branch ISD's March 2005 Volunteer of the Month! | |
