December 2005 Volunteer of the Month

Leslie Conrads
Memorial High School

Leslie Conrads exemplifies the true spirit of our SBISD Volunteer Programs as she not only volunteers countless hours, but also promotes volunteerism throughout the Memorial High School student body.  As the long-time coordinator of the Memorial Mustang Outreach Bunch (MMOM), Leslie has instilled a spirit of community service into the lives of thousands of students, providing a varied array of volunteer opportunities throughout SBISD and the greater Houston community.

Whether it’s serving and dancing with the senior citizens at the annual SBISD “Senior” Prom, mentoring students at an elementary school or cleaning up the beaches of Galveston, MHS students are at the forefront.  Students who perform at least 30 hours of MMOB-sponsored community service earn a special stamp on their diplomas.

More important, however, is the special appreciation these students develop for serving their community.  Through the years, Leslie has also served in a variety of PTA and PTA Council roles.  For the tremendous impact she has had on Memorial High School, SBISD and our city through her tireless devotion of volunteerism, we proudly salute Leslie Conrads as the December Volunteer of the Month.
