April 2007 Volunteer of the Month

LElaine and David DavenportElaine and David Davenport

Spring Branch Middle School/
Hunters Creek Elementary

Fourteen years ago, Elaine and David Davenport began assisting and contributing to the students, teachers and community of SBISD.  Their quiet dependability, diligence and sense of civic responsibility continue to this day.  They have helped out elementary students by spending hours tutoring at Hunters Creek.  As room parents and “room mother chairs” they have been there to assist the teachers with whatever they need.

Elaine and David have participated in many fund raisers for SBISD ad their individual campuses.  They have graciously helped students as well as teachers to attain scholarships.  They have served as members of the Campus Improvement Teams and PTA Council while assisting in recruitment of volunteers and parents to participate in PTA.  David has worked tirelessly with the district to keep stakeholders informed about activities in Austin through the Legislative Action Network.  Elaine worked late hours and used her insistence on perfection to learn desktop publishing to produce directories and newsletters at the schools.

We are honored to recognize Elaine and David Davenport as the April Volunteers of the Month.
