Susan Griffin
Rummel Creek Elementary
Susan Griffin is the perfect model
for the ideal volunteer within our district. She currently
serves as president of the PTA at Rummel Creek Elementary.
Over the past six years, Susan has
been the room mom countless times. She has volunteered
in the library, classroom, and computer lab. Although
she is a full time employee at ConocoPhillips and runs
her own business, The Shamrock Press, she still manages
to find time to efficiently run and innovatively engage
parents in Rummel Creek’s
PTA.
She constantly finds ways to increase
the attendance and participation of parents in the PTA
by conducting surveys and addressing needs. In order
to get parents involved, she has made PTA meetings brief
and fun, yet still productive. At the meetings she now
serves food, has door prizes, and manages to keep them
under one hour to accommodate everyone’s busy
schedules. Susan is constantly creating a positive atmosphere
making parents and teachers want to become more involved.
Susan works tediously with parents
and staff in order to find ways to improve the school.
She has recruited numerous volunteers for many committees
and has helped each chairperson with ideas and suggestions
for improvement. To celebrate and honor all of her hard
work at Rummel Creek, our district is proud to recognize
Susan Griffin as the November Volunteer of the Month.
