Janaury 2008 Volunteer of the Month

Wyn Norris
Northbrook Middle School

Wyn Norris“We never stop recruiting.” This simple sentence epitomizes Wyn Norris’s commitment to Spring Branch ISD, our mentoring program and the students of Northbrook Middle School. Having heard about mentoring from a friend, Wyn approached the SBISD Partnerships & Volunteer Programs office two and a half years ago to ask how he could get involved. Since that day, he has been the driving force in building the “Golden Dome Mentor Alliance,” a cadre of nearly 75 Notre Dame alumni, spouses and friends who are mentors making a difference for NMS students “on the brink of success.”  His leadership efforts helped the Notre Dame Alumni Club earn the SBISD Education Association’s prestigious Red Apple Award and the 2008 Texas Association of Partners in Education Crystal award for community partnerships. While SBISD has over 9,000 registered volunteers, there isn’t one more committed to our district, our students and our success than Wyn Norris, our January Volunteer of the Month.
