Jeanette Roberts
Valley Oaks Elementary School
Jeanette Roberts, known as Janice, has been involved in some type of activity over the last thirteen years that directly benefits Valley Oaks Elementary almost every day. Janice has been a nanny to several students that attend Valley Oaks, but she works tirelessly for all the students and staff. She supports the Help America Read program by reading to students four days a week. She recognized the need for an assistant in the art classes for the primary grades and began helping with the projects. She helps out with the health fitness classes, spending countless hours, many days a week assisting the teacher and working directly with the students. One of her most valuable assets is her ability to excite and encourage others to learn.
Janice has also alleviated the amount of time the teachers had to spend copying by running copies for entire grade levels, laminating, and running errands if teachers needed special items. Teachers report that she “bakes, she serves, she sets-up, whatever you need she is glad to do and always with a smile and positive attitude.”
She has impacted every student and staff member at VOE in some way. Whether it is a struggling student who needs extra help or a teacher overwhelmed with copying, Janice steps in. She is an outstanding volunteer and we are happy to recognize her as the March Volunteer of the Month.
