Patty Busmire
Memorial High, Memorial Middle School, District
The numbers tell the story about the April, 2008 SBISD Volunteer of the Month! Thanks to her leadership, vision and organizational heroism, three days in August yields uncanny results. This amazing woman has mobilized over 200 moms, dads, and students to sort and package tens of thousands of pencils, binders, erasers, notebooks – you name it, she’s organized it! Thanks to this amazing volunteer’s leadership of the Council of PTA’s School Supply project over the last two years, over 14,000 economically disadvantaged students have had everything they needed to start the year off right! As if that weren’t enough, this energetic SBISD parent was a key leader of the SBISD Citizen’s group that supported the district’s 2007 bond issue. She personally handed out over 2500 yard signs to assure a victory for SBISD! As soon as the bond election was over, this creative woman turned her energies to chairing the Spring Branch Education Foundation’s most successful Crystal Awards Banquet in history, raising $105,000 to benefit the district. She has also held numerous PTA leadership roles, served for two years on the district’s calendar committee, and serves on the SBISD Bond Oversight Committee. For all that she has done for SBISD, we are proud to recognize Patty Busmire as the SBISD April, 2008 Volunteer of the Month.
