September 2007 Volunteers of the Month

Robin Howell & Christine Wilson
Rummel Creek Elementary

Linda KemperLast school year, Rummel Creek Elementary embarked on the daunting task of refurbishing its leveled literacy library so that teachers would have plenty of materials to share with students.  Robin Howell and Christine Wilson took on the challenge of organizing and facilitating this huge project.  Robin co-chaired the auction to raise funds for the literacy project.  They both offered their expertise and vision in managing the $100,000 worth of orders from vendors, as well as the daily manual labor unpacking, labeling, and sorting all of the books.  They did this with a smile and a positive attitude.

Their commitment to the students has produced a beautiful, leveled literacy library to support the teachers and students in the never-ending desire to become life-long readers.  Both have volunteered at Rummel Creek for several years and offer their support whenever asked.

We are honored to recognize Robin Howell and Christine Wilson as the September Volunteers of the Month from Rummel Creek Elementary.
