October 2007 Volunteer of the Month

Kerrin Phillips Kerrin Phillips
 Meadow Wood Elementary School

Two years ago, Meadow Wood gained a very valuable volunteer.  Kerrin’s can-do attitude and upbeat personality are a motivation to everyone on campus.

With two of Kerrin’s three children attending Meadow Wood, it holds a special place in her heart and she does a lot to show it.  Kerrin has an immense passion for the beautification of the school.  She has worked with groups on the Environmental Committee to plant hundreds of trees and plants around the campus.  Her summer was devoted to creating a giant mosaic that covers an entire external wall of the school.  Smaller mosaics fill the hallways.

Meadow Wood is currently involved in the SPARK Park, as art component of a major playground construction project.  Kerrin has organized parent volunteers, supplies and the painting of thousands of fundraiser tiles.  She has graciously donated many hours of her time and a lot of energy to the project.

Kerrin has worked closely with SBISD’s Maintenance Department and volunteers to maintain sprinkler systems and her Texas garden.  Her hard work and love for Meadow Wood will be appreciated for years to come.
