Curt
Martin & David Slattery
Leading a diverse group of community members to consensus
is never an easy job, yet our two volunteers of the
month are masters at the process. Since early 2006,
these two amazing gentlemen have given countless hours
to Spring Branch ISD as members of the district’s
Long-Range Facilities Committee and as co-chairs of
the SBISD Bond Advisory Committee. While these
committees were in action, Curt Martin and David Slattery
each gave over 15 hours of volunteer time weekly to
plan and conduct committee meetings, communicate with
committee members, develop presentations, review reports
and so much more. In fact, conservative estimates
affirm that these two superlative SBISD dads each have
contributed over 1000 hours of their time, talents and
wisdom to develop a bond proposal that will transform
the face of SBISD. At the same time, David has
continued to serve on the Spring Woods High School Campus
Improvement Team and SBISD Calendar Committee, and Curt
has taken on the additional leadership role as a board
member of the Spring Branch Education Foundation. For
their tireless efforts to assure that SBISD’s
future is as strong as its past, for their invaluable
spirit of giving, and for their commitment to our community,
we are proud to honor Curt Martin and David Slattery
as the SBISD November, 2007 Volunteers of the Month.
