Our Our Volunteer of the Month:
This month, we are proud to honor an extraordinary community volunteer who has acted at as a "quiet powerhouse" to all of the Westchester Academy family. After being selected as Campus Beautification Chairperson several years ago, Jane Finneran has pulled weeds, planted flowers, spread mulch and watered gardens in the hopes of giving the campus a "much needed facelift."
While Jane has spent countless hours of her own time in the garden, she has also recruited a number of students and parents to help out and get their hands dirty. Students have since developed a "greater pride in their school through their efforts."
In addition to her gardening greatness, Jane has also prompted the campus to invest in a few "gum-stands" where students can discard their already-chewed gum. This, she hopes, will keep students from sticking it all over the courtyard, sidewalks, and outdoor hallways, which will ultimately leave the building looking "quality and welcoming."
It is with much pride, admiration and appreciation that we recognize Ms. Jane Finneran, WAIS Campus Beautification Chairperson, as our November 2010 Volunteer of the Month. Her leadership, initiative and drive will guarantee her positive impact on the campus she serves, which will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
