Appliances
The shop consists of one appliance and refrigeration technician that services and repairs the appliance and refrigeration equipment in all the homemaking labs, athletic areas, teachers lounges and life skills areas. Clocks & Bells
The shop consists of (2) technicians who are responsible for maintaining the clock and bell systems throughout the district. They also enter all bell schedules at each campus and make the necessary adjustments throughout the year. All of the district’s master clock systems are set with the official time of the U.S.A. provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The shop consists of (5) electricians during the day shift and (2) electricians on the evening shift. All of our electricians are licensed through the State of Texas. They are responsible for maintaining all electrical systems including the buildings main electrical service, interior and exterior lighting, electrical equipment, all branch circuit wiring, required annual emergency lighting inspections and assist in new construction planning and design.
Elevators and Handicap Lifts
All of the districts elevators and handicap lifts are inspected annually by a third party inspecting company in order to receive a Certificate of Compliance from the State of Texas for our campuses located in the Villages or for the campuses in the city to receive an Annual Operating Permit from the City of Houston. Also a monthly routine preventive maintenance is performed on each of the units as well.
Fire
Suppression Systems and Fire Safety Inspections
Combining the efforts of this shop, we are able to assist each other with the required annual inspections of the districts fire sprinkler systems, kitchen suppression systems, portable fire extinguishers, and fire hoses. Also, this shop is responsible for coordinating and accompanying the City of Houston Fire Marshal’s and the Village Fire Marshal’s with the required annual inspections.
