Agenda
Format
The
SBISD Purchasing Department
has been commissioned
by the General Superintendent
to provide the Board
of Trustees broader
purchasing agenda
information at their
regular monthly meetings. The
information to be
provided by the end-user
will require greater
participation in terms
of background information,
impact of project,
funding/budget information,
staff implications,
monitoring and reporting
timelines, etc. Linked,
for your edification
and future usage,
are detailed instructions
outlining and defining
the new format. Included
are samples of the
new Board agenda item
format for campus/department
usage when submitting
an item(s) for Board
approval. The Board
has several clear
aims in mind and has
requested additional
information and changes
in format of the items
presented to them
as follows:
- More
detail
The Board of
Trustees wants to
have a clearer understanding
of the intent and
meaning of the items
being presented
to them in writing,
so that less time
has to be spent
in asking questions
for clarification
at the meetings.
- More
balance
The Board realizes
that staff would
not be presenting
an item for their
consideration unless
we were in favor
of it. However,
each item should
include a discussion
of both positive
and negative impacts
of the issue being
considered.
- Impact
of decisions
The Board wants
to ensure that it
has all the information
necessary to make
good data-based
decisions. Sometimes
the impact of a
decision is neither
positive nor negative,
it is just a change.
Sometimes there
are negative consequences
to taking responsible
and proactive steps.
