Spring Branch Community Health Fair will be held on Aug. 18

Local families are encouraged to attend the free, district-sponsored Spring Branch Community Health Fair from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Spring Branch Family Development Center, 8575 Pitner Road. This fair will provide a one-stop source for child immunizations, health screenings for diabetes and other treatable diseases, as well as medical and dental care information.

More Back to School InformationAll students, including prekindergarten and kindergarten students, should receive age-appropriate health immunizations. Immunization requirements are set by the Texas Department of State and Health Services and are subject to change on an annual basis.

Children who attend this event and receive immunizations, or participate in several hands-on activities, will receive Back to School supplies. Please bring your child’s shot records or a note from your school nurse indicating which childhood immunizations are needed.

Information about community resources will also be provided, along with food, beverages and local entertainment.

This health fair is presented in collaboration with numerous partners. They include: SBISD, Spring Branch Family Development Center, Memorial/Spring Branch Rotary Club, Memorial Assistance Ministries, the National Hispanic Professional Organization, Texas Children’s Health Plan Inc., Blue Cross/Blue Shield Care Van Program, Harris County Hospital District, Christus Community Health Ministries, Good Neighbor Health Clinic, UTMB Stark Diabetes Center, Dr. Carlos Herrera, the City of Houston, Mayors’ Citizens’ Assistance Office, Mayor’s Office of Special Events, Department of Health & Human Services, DHHS Dental Division, Houston Police Department, Special Operations Division, Public Works & Engineering, Water Division and the Houston Fire Department.

Spring Branch Community Health Center, 9325 Kempwood, offers low-cost, $5 immunizations, based on family income and need. Health Center hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. This center will also sponsor a Health Fair with child vaccines at Buffalo Creek Elementary, 2801 Blalock, from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Aug. 11. Later this fall, the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Care Van will offer child and student immunizations from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Thornwood Elementary School, 14400 Fern. Children must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian. Immunization records or a letter from a school nurse are also required.

La Feria de la Salud de la Comunidad de Spring Branch está planeada para el 18 de agosto.

Se anima a las familias locales a que asistan a la Feria de la Salud de la Comunidad de Spring Branch que es gratuita y patrocinada por el distrito, de las 8 a.m. hasta el medio día del sábado 18 de agosto en el Spring Branch Family Development Center, ubicado en 8575 Pitner Road. Esta feria proveerá un recurso bajo el mismo techo para las vacunas de los niños, los exámenes de salud para la diabetes y otras enfermedades tratables, así como información del cuidado médico y dental.
