This year, the fine arts department was proud to hold their 3rd annual winter extravaganza that promotes the talented fine arts students at Northbrook High School. Over the years, these students have been working extremely hard to master the skills for such a magnificent production.
Unfortunately, the fine arts have been living in the shadows, but now we are ready to take the plunge and invite everyone to experience the incredibly talented and hardworking students we have. We like to show the community that fine arts matter. Not all students thrive in academics, but students who participate in fine arts are 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement. It has also been proven that the fine arts help to increase self-discipline, creativity, and confidence within the students. Participation in the fine arts gives children a great advantage in developing the language skills of reading, writing, and verbal communication, and it also helps to develop interpersonal skills.
The Winter Extravaganza was held December 11, 2008 at Northbrook High School. There our guests enjoyed a wonderful Italian meal with dessert, browsed and auctioned for artwork, created and purchased ornaments, and experienced a unique collaboration of performances with the Northbrook High School choir, band, orchestra, speech and dance teams.
We invited the entire community: Family, friends, neighbors, teachers and students to join us and attend this unique experience. Each ticket allow participants to enjoy our fabulous meal, gain admission to the performances and view artwork from our students. Artwork and ornaments were purchased for an additional small fee. Participants also had the option of creating their own ornaments for an additional small fee. |
