The Elementary art program in Spring Branch ISD is one of the finest not only in the state, but in the nation. Every elementary campus has a full time art teacher who is dedicated to teaching every child in his or her building not only the knowledge and skills of art, but also, the love of it. All of these teachers have rigorous training and staff development every year. They come together monthly to share ideas, discuss strategies, and learn of new opportunities for their students.

They take turns in displays upstairs at the administration building, while participating in the yearly Rodeo and Spring Art Shows. They give students opportunities to be recognized in events such as Design An Ad, the Houston Art Education Assn. Youth Art Month Show, the Dog Show, and a number of other events.

These teachers worked for over a year to develop the new Elementary Art Curriculum Framework. It includes the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills as well as the National Standards. Every elementary student in Spring Branch can be assured of outstanding instruction in the art rooms of our district, while experiencing success as they problem solve in new and different ways.
