Computer
Science I AP
This introductory course emphasizes
programming methodology, problem solving, and algorithm
development. The course is built around the development of
computer programs that correctly solve a given problem.
Students will experience the programming process of writing,
debugging, refining, and executing their own computer
programs. The language of JAVA will be used to design
well-structured programs in a variety of application areas
(science, mathematics, business, etc.) The content of this
course is equivalent to the first semester of a
college-level course in Computer Science. SBISD has
articulation agreements in place with area
colleges/universities for college credit in Computer
Science.
Prerequisite: Geometry A or taking

Science II Honors AP
Computer Science II reinforces basic
concepts and provides opportunities in advanced programming,
data structures, and algorithms necessary for the Computer
Science Advanced Placement Tests. Complete course

Web
Mastering
9,10,11,12. MHS, NHS, SWHS, SHS,
WAIS Credit: 1 unit
This course focuses on the searching
strategies, publishing skills, and methodologies for
publishing information on a World Wide Web (WWW) server.
Ultimately, students will be able to perform as webmasters
for themselves, the school, or the district. With webmastery
skills, students can participate in the global community
inside and outside of the school.
Prerequisites: Proficiency in

Multimedia
Productions
9,10,11,12. MHS, NHS, SWHS, SHS,
WAIS Credit: 1 unit
This is a performance-based survey
course designed to provide each student an experience in a
variety of multimedia technology. Students will construct
media rich knowledge structures using text, graphics,
sounds, and video while developing necessary skills and
obtaining hands-on experience. Students will use a variety
of multimedia tools to build linear and non-linear
interactive products.

Digital
Graphics/Animation

unit
This course focuses on the elements
and principles of Digital Graphics and Animation. Students
will learn when and how to use vector and raster graphics,
typeface styles, resolution and file formats, color,
lighting, sound and 3D effects. Students will understand
desktop drawing, painting and image editing tools and how
they will affect graphic work, as well as laws and issues
governing the designer. The goal is to communicate ideas
effectively through digital media.

Video
Production
9,10,11,12 SWHS Credit: 1
unit
This course focuses on the video
basics as well as pre-production, production, and
post-production stages of video creation. Students will
learn when and how to create, edit, and publish videos.
Students will be introduced to software applications used in
editing along with camera techniques, lighting,
storyboarding, and key video technology terms. The goal is
to communicate ideas effectively through visual
media.
