Spring Branch ISD Equipment

Spring Branch I.S.D. uses the H.323 RollAbout2000 from Broadband Networks. This cart is a dedicated distance learning unit with the ability to add all the tools a teacher will need. The carts reside on a dedicated distance learning network, separate from the normal data network, to help ensure everyone has a consistently high quality experience with the technology.

Purchasing a PowerPlay System

If you would like to purchase a PowerPlay system or any peripherals for your existing PowerPlay system, please email Johnny Baugh at baughj@springbranchisd.com. The Distance Learning team will work with you to find the best solution to meet your needs at the best possible price.

Recording a Videoconferencing Session

At some point you may find that you need to record a videoconferencing session onto videotape. This will require the use of a scan converter. A scan converter converts a computer image into a video image. Click here to see a diagram of how to hookup a VCR to record a videoconferencing session through a PowerPlay unit. (Click here for the PDF file if you would like to print it out.)

IP Contact Software

At the core of the PowerPlay product line is an innovative software package, IPContactô. IPContact allows users to conduct high quality, multipoint videoconferences over any IP-based network. What's more, users can do this without a centralized MCU. IPContact has built in video bridging capability which allows 8-way conferencing without an MCU.

WorkStation

The PowerPlay WorkStation is best suited for the desktop workstation environment. School districts install PowerPlay WorkStations in administrators offices so that they can communicate across the district without travel. PowerPlay WorkStations are also used for individual students who are either enrolled in distance learning coursework offered from another school or are being offered special one-on-one instruction.

This is the unit that Spring Branch currently has in most schools.

ConferenceRoom 2500

School districts turn regular classrooms into dedicated PowerPlay conference rooms. These classrooms break down the barrier of distance and create open access to everyone in the district. The ConferenceRoom 2500 configuration can accommodate 15-30 students who may take classes offered from other locations on the network. Each location may combine into 8-way conferences to share curriculum or specialized instruction across the district.
