G/T Program Goals

The goal of SBISD's gifted and talented program is to provide a differentiated, enriched academic environment for students with advanced learning abilities that uses instructional methods and materials designed to develop thinking processes that enhance independent study and personal effectiveness. Therefore, through its design and implementation, the gifted and talented program:

  1. focuses on significant, universal issues, problems and themes while facilitating the understanding of relationships within and between disciplines.
  2. develops productive thinking skills of critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and logic.
  3. develops advanced and abstract understanding of knowledge beyond regular course and grade level expectations.
  4. stresses the gathering and interpreting of information from multiple and varied resources.
  5. develops competency in sharing ideas, information and products in a variety of ways.
  6. provides opportunities for self-selected, in-depth learning within an area of study.
  7. develops awareness of gifted characteristics to foster self-understanding.
  8. enhances personal effectiveness through the development of organization and social interaction skills.
