Enrichment Programs
The
Science Center offers special enrichment programs in the fall and
summer. A Saturday Science Safari program for SBISD 4th graders
is conducted each fall. This program provides a series of field trips
to interesting sites in Texas. Saturday field trips have been conducted
to Sea World in San Antonio, Moody Gardens in Galveston, the Houston
Museum of Natural Science and the Houston Zoo.
A similar
program is offered in the summer for SBISD 5th grade students.
This eight-day program, however, incorporates 4 laboratory activity
days in conjunction with the field trips. The Summer Science
Safari is conducted at two Middle Schools.
Also,
a one week hands-on summer science program is offered at the
Science Center for SBISD students in grades K, 1, and 2. This
program takes advantage of the Science Center's resources and
treats the students to a wide variety of learner-centered science
activities.
All enrichment
activities are financially self-sustaining, and are operated
on a fee-paid basis.
