and submittal of
the Parent Program
application, students
generally will follow
this procedure,
which will be reviewed
by the campus STAT
process:
-
The student makes
an appointment
for an interview
with a program
case manager,
at which time
program guidelines
are explained
and various required
forms are completed.
-
Students may register
for academic evaluation
exams which are
conducted either
on home campuses
or at Spring Branch
School of Choice
if they desire
entry into other
programs at SBSOC
-
Students and
home campuses
will be notified
of acceptance
into the Parenting
program.
-
If the student
chooses to attend
SBSOC, appropriate
steps are taken
for transferring
from the home
campus. Students
at SWHS and
NHS may take
the Parenting
class at their
home campus
where both a
Parenting teacher
and Caseworker
are located
on site. Following
the initial
parenting course,
students take
sequential courses
in nutrition,
child development,
and other related
subjects. In
addition, students
have the opportunity
to receive occupational
training and
job placement
assistance.
Students may
apply for admission
at any time
during the year,
when the need
becomes known.
Acceptance into
the Parenting
Program is determined
by need, time
of application,
and available
space, particularly
with regard
to child care.
Every effort
is made to accommodate
the needs of
all students.
