Three separate parent orientations, beginning
Jan. 29, will be held at Pine Shadows Elementary
School for families interested in enrolling
kindergarten students in a new Two-Way Dual
Language Program this fall. The campus is
located at 9900 Neuens, west of the Spring
Woods Middle School campus.
 Pine Shadows Elementary’s program
will be the third such Dual Language program
offered in Spring Branch ISD. It will mirror
an existing program at Sherwood Elementary
School, begin with the 2008-2009 kindergarten
class, and then continue to add a grade
level each year until the program reaches
fifth grade.
A separate Two-Way Dual Language program,
the district’s first such offering,
operates at Cedar Brook Elementary School.
Through the district’s increasingly
popular Dual Language program, children
have an opportunity to become bilingual
speakers, readers and writers at an early
age. They gain valuable language skills
that may have lasting benefits in the world
in which they will live and work as adults.
Parent orientations for the Pine Shadows
Elementary program will be held:
- Jan. 29, 6:30-7:45 p.m., in both English and Spanish
- Feb. 12, 8-9 a.m. in English, then 9-10 a.m. in Spanish
- Feb. 26, 6:30-7:45 p.m., in both English and Spanish
New kindergarten students zoned to the
elementary campus will have program priority,
but other district students may be accepted
through a transfer and lottery process, if
space is available.
The Pine Shadows Elementary program offers
an enriched educational program that uses
two languages for instructional purposes.
Classrooms are designed to be half English-speaking
students and half Spanish speakers. Half
of instruction is conducted in English,
the other half in Spanish. The students will
learn to read in their native language first.

Un Programa de Lenguaje Dual Añadido
Habrán tres orientaciones para padres, iniciando el 29 de enero, se llevarán a cabo en Pine Shadows para familias interesadas en inscribir a sus hijos en el nuevo programa de Doble Vía, Dos Idiomas este otoño. La escuela esta localizada en 9900 Neuens, al oriente de la secundaria Spring Woods.
Pine Shadows Ofrecerá el Programa Doble Vía, Dos Idiomas
La escuela de Pine Shadows será la tercera escuela con dicho programa de lenguaje dual ofrecido en Spring Branco ISD. Comenzará en el año escolar 2008-2009 con la clase de kinder y agregará un grado posterior hasta llegar al quinto grado.
A través de este programa tan popular en el distrito, el alumno tiene la oportunidad de convertirse bilingüe al hablar, escribir y leer a una edad temprana obteniendo valiosas destrezas que le beneficiarán en el mundo en que vive y trabajará.
Las orientaciones para padres se llevarán a cabo:
- 29 de enero, 6:30 - 7:45 p.m., en inglés y español
- 12 de febrero, 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., en inglés y 9:00-10:00 a.m. en español
- 26 de febrero, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m., en inglés y español
Alumnos nuevos de kinder que vivan en la zona perteneciendo a la escuela tendrán prioridad para ser aceptados en el programa, pero alumnos que vivan fuera de la zona pudieran ser aceptados a través del proceso de transferencia y lotería si hay espacio disponible.
La escuela de Pine Shadows ofrece un programa que enriquece su programa educacional utilizando los dos idiomas de español é inglés para propósito de instrucción. Las clases están diseñadas para tener la mitad de niños que hablen inglés y la otra mitad que hablen español. La mitad de la instrucción es conducida en inglés y la otra mitad en español. Los estudiantes aprenderán a leer primero en su idioma natal.
