Branch ISD is seeking community
volunteers to serve on a 15-member
Bond Oversight Committee to
monitor how the district manages
the $597.1 million bond issue
recently approved by district
voters.
Superintendent
Duncan Klussmann recommended
the Board of Trustees approve
a panel that includes individuals
who have been involved in the
previous facilities studies
or the Bond Advisory Committee.
Nominees should also have expertise
in architecture, engineering,
construction or finance. Seven
members will be recommended
by each Trustee and eight members
will represent the community
at large.
The committee
is expected to meet quarterly
over the next several years
as the district implements the
10-year Bond Program, which
includes replacing 12 elementary
schools built between 1938 and
1967; upgrading safety, security,
technology, transportation and
athletic facilities; maintaining
and upgrading campus air conditioning,
heating, electrical and plumbing
systems; and classroom additions
and enhanced science labs required--but
not funded--by the state.
The deadline
for submitting nominations is
Friday, Dec. 7. The Board
hopes to name the committee
at its Dec. 14 workshop.
