SBISD offers online Atomic Learning option to parents, students and staff

SBISD offers online Atomic Learning option to parents, students and staffSpring Branch ISD now offers greater access to its web-based software training program, called Atomic Learning. The online program offers students, parents and staff members training in more than 110 software applications, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Apple’s iMovie video editing program.

In addition to software training, Atomic Learning also offers technology-infused lesson plans and professional development workshops for educators on a variety of topics. All Atomic Learning training resources are available to SBISD teachers, staff, students and parents 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Atomic AlAtomic Learning’s content includes:

  • Web-based software training available 24/7
  • More than 30,000 tutorial movies on more than 110 of the most common software applications
  • More than 500 new tutorials added every 45 days
  • Closed captions available on thousands of tutorials
  • More than 200 technology-based classroom activities and curriculum resources
  • Home access so that teachers, students and parents can use Atomic Learning where and when it is most needed
  • Usage tracking for teachers that displays which tutorials have been accessed by username and usage levels by site/district
  • AL’s Weekly Tech Tips and e-newsletters that keep readers up-to-date on frequently asked questions, news and the latest tutorial releases

Atomic Learning technology training is being offered to help achieve the district’s goals to improve technology proficiency for students and teachers. SBISD’s Board of Trustees approved greater access to the online training program earlier this year.

SBISD’s Technology Planning Committee states that its “technology plan supports the district vision for a learning environment that uses technology seamlessly with instruction.”

Teachers may use Atomic Learning as an instructional tool with their students during class. Also, teachers can allow students to use technology or make technology-based assignments because students have access to tutorials including all student software used in SBISD.

Teachers accessing the online tutorials can receive staff development hours for time spent learning online.

For more information on how to log in and begin using Atomic Learning tutorials, please contact your child’s campus librarian or call SBISD Educational Technology at 713-464-1511, ext. 2329.
