Spring Branch’s two highly regarded
district charter schools, Cornerstone Academy,
a middle school, and Westchester Academy
for International Studies, a middle and
high school campus, will conduct open houses
in January for prospective new students
and parents. In the weeks ahead, both schools
will also accept new student applications.
Cornerstone
Academy, 9026 Westview, will
host its annual Community Day from 9 a.m.
until noon on Saturday, Jan. 26. Director
Jill Wright will talk about the school,
its curriculum and expectations for students.
The morning session will include classroom
tours and opportunities to speak with teachers
and students. Applications for Cornerstone’s
2008-2009 school lottery will be accepted
from Jan. 26 through 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb.
15. The lottery will be held at 2 p.m. on

Westchester
Academy for International Studies,
which includes the district’s only
International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
for high school students, will conduct an
Open House for prospective new parents and
students
at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Director
Pamela Butler, staff members, teachers and
students will speak about the middle and
high school experience, classes and program
expectations. Applications will be accepted
Jan. 28 through the close of the school
day on Friday, Feb. 15. If needed, a lottery
