Northwest Harris County Retired Teacher Association is a Local Unit of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA). The first objective of TRTA as printed in their Bylaws is "to promote the professional, economic, intellectual, social and healthy well-being of retired school personnel".

Membership is open to any retired school personnel who receive an annuitant check from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
