1. What are your openings?

There are three ways to find out what positions are currently open. You may stop by the Human Resources Office at 955 Campbell Rd., Houston, Texas or by calling the job line at 713-365-4799 to hear a recorded listing of current openings. You may also visit our website at http://www.springbranchisd.com/person/jobs/jobs.htm.

2. How do I apply?

You may apply only for positions that are currently posted. To apply for Classified Secretarial/Technical or Management/Supervisory positions, you must apply online. Paper applications will be accepted until January 1, 2005. The link to the online application can be found at the end of these instructions.

3. Can I apply for more than one position?

Yes. You may apply for any posted position for which you are qualified.

4. How do I apply for additional positions after initial application?

After January 1, 2005, an electronic application must be completed before an applicant can be considered for any position(s). To apply for currently posted positions:

  • Go back to your online application. The link to the online application can be found at the end of these instructions.
  • To login, click on "Have you already applied? Click here to login." and enter your User ID and password.
  • Click on the Employment Preferences link on the left menu and add position(s) desired. Make sure you click the 'Continue' button at the bottom of the page.
  • If additional assessments are needed, please contact Human Resources at 713-464-1511 X2341.

5. How long will my application remain on file?

An application will remain on file for two years. It will be active for one year from October 1. Be sure to update information such as change in experience, education or personal information.

6. How do I update information in my file?

Follow the steps below to make any changes or additions to your online classified application.

  • Go back to your online application. The link to the online application can be found at the end of these instructions.
  • To login, click on "Have you already applied? Click here to login." and enter your User ID and password.
  • Click on the link(s) on the left menu and make your changes. Make sure you click the 'Continue' button at the bottom of the page.
  • If additional assessments are needed, please contact Human Resources at 713-464-1511 X2341.

7. How can I find out the location of the openings?

We do not reveal the location of the opening. The principal/department head will review applications and if selected you will be contacted for an interview.

8. How will I know if a position has been filled?

Only offers for employment from the Human Resources office to the applicant are valid offers. You will be called by Human Resources if you are to receive an offer of employment. Applicants that are not selected are not notified. However, after the posting deadline date, applicants may contact Human Resources (713-464-1511 ext. 2341) to find out the status of a position.

9. What assessments are given?

A series of assessments are given to clerical/secretarial applicants. These assessments consist of tests covering MS Word or MS Excel. There are basic minimum standards for each position category. Bookkeeping positions also requrie 10 key and data entry assessments.

10. When are assessments given?

The assessments may be scheduled at the time of application. Applicants must request an assessment date.

11. If I do not pass the assessments can I retest?

There is no pass or fail to the technical assessments. They measure the proficiency level of each task. Clerical/Secretarial positions are broken down into categories ranging from category 3 through category 6. Each of these categories requires a different proficiency level. If you assess at a category 4 level but want to apply for a category 5 you may reassess after waiting 90 days.

12. How will I be notified of the assessment results?

Applicants will be able to see the results immediately following the assessments. You will also receive a form with your proficiencies recorded.

13. Application Instructions

Thank you for applying with Spring Branch ISD. We want this to be a positive experience for you. Please take a few moments to review the instructions prior to completing your application.

INSTRUCTIONS

The application is best viewed using Netscape 4.5 or higher or MS Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. You may want to reduce the size of your browser's font to allow more of the application to be visible on your screen.

You will be asked for the following specific information to complete the application. Have the following available for reference:

     -Education Information

     -Work Experience including names, addresses and phone numbers.

     -References including names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.

Reference Form - Reference Forms can be submitted electronically or downloaded.

In order for the reference form(s) to be submitted electronically, an email address will be required. Should an email not be available, please follow instructions below for downloading the reference forms and put 'N/A' for the email address.

If the supervisor's email address is not available for the submittal of the electronic reference, download two Reference Forms and forward forms to previous supervisors - one of which must be from your current or most recent supervisor.

Your application will not be considered complete until Spring Branch ISD receives the Reference Form via electronic, mailed or faxed directly from your reference.

Copy of Transcript(s) (mail/fax copy to Spring Branch ISD) if applicable

TIPS FOR ONLINE APPLICATION

Certain fields have been identified with an asterisk (*). These fields are required and you will not be allowed to submit your application unless these fields are completed.

You will also need to press the TAB key to move from field to field. DO NOT press the enter key.

When entering phone numbers, only input the numbers. DO NOT try to enter dashes, hyphens or parentheses.

When entering dates, follow the format indicated, i.e., (MM/DD/YYYY) equals 05/30/2004.

When you have completed a page, click on the CONTINUE button on the bottom of the page to save your information and move to the next page.

When you have completed the application you will be able to print a hard copy for your records.

It is anticipated that the application process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Once you have submitted your application you will receive the message, "Your application has been successfully submitted. Thank you for applying with Spring Branch ISD." If you have provided a valid e-mail address, an e-mail will be sent to that address confirming the receipt of your application.

Any falsification of records will disqualify you from consideration for employment with Spring Branch Independent School District.
