Substitute Application Process

Currently we are not accepting new applications for Substitute Teacher. Please check back periodically to monitor application process status.

Thank you for applying with Spring Branch ISD. SBISD is always looking for responsible people to substitute for our employees when they are ill or have an emergency. If you have additional questions, please contact Cheryl Byrom at 713-251-2352 or email her at cheryl.byrom@springbranchisd.com.

Note: If you have completed a professional online application and indicated a desire to substitute, you do not have to complete a separate substitute application.

IN ORDER TO ATTEND A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER ORIENTATION, YOUR APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED WITH THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

Complete Online Application

  • The Online Application will take approximately 30 minutes. Please
    have your certifications (if applicable), work experience and reference information on hand. https://winweb.springbranchisd.com/AppEntry.exe

  • Please make sure your application is up-to-date (update certification/license, work experience, education, references, etc.).

  • Please indicate position in the Employment Preference section of the application.

Transcript(s)

A copy of college transcript(s) which must show the successful completion of a minimum of 60 college semester hours. Mail/fax transcript(s) to Human Resources or upload to the online application


Teacher Credentials (if applicable)

A copy of teacher certification(s) if applicable mailed/faxed to Human Resources or upload to the online application

To obtain a copy of your certification, visit State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).


Reference Form

REFERENCES CAN BE SUBMITTED 2 WAYS:

  1. Electronic Form (Enter Email Address on Online Application):
    • Reference Forms will be sent out by the HR system automatically via email only if you enter the reference's email address of your two most current or recent supervisors/principals in the Reference section of the online application.
    • If you do not have the reference's email address, please follow the instructions below in #2 and enter 'N/A' for the email address in the Reference section of the online application.

  2. Download Form: Click here to download and print two Reference Forms and send forms to your current or most recent supervisor/principal. If Certified Teacher download form; if Degreed, Non-Certified, download form.

Invitation to Substitute Orientation

The Human Resources Department will contact you via email as soon as the substitute orientation dates become available.


Complete Substitute Online Training

In order to become a substitute you must complete the online substitute training provided by Region 4 before or after the orientation.

The Substitute Online Training SHOULD NOT be completed prior to receiving an invitation to the Orientation.

Experienced certified teachers who have been in the classroom within the last 5 years do not need to take the online training.

The cost will be a non-refundable $25.00.

Complete the online substitute training at http://www.learningis4me.com/. In the search box, enter "Substitute Training" or "439334" and follow the instructions. For technical support, contact 713-744-8110.

Print the assessment score page at the end of the training and bring the page to the orientation. If you prefer to take the online training after the orientation, you will be required to submit that page to the Substitute office by mail: SBISD-Human Resources, 955 Campbell Road, Houston, TX. 77024 or fax 713-251-2343.

Upon hiring, the substitute must also provide Human Resources with documents that establish both identity and employment eligibility.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS - FILE UPLOAD

You will be able to electronically attach the following document files (rιsume, scanned transcripts, copies of credentials, letter of interest) to your application/profile. Follow instructions in the online application to attach documents to your file.

If you are unable to electronically attach documents to the online application, please submit via mail, fax or drop off at Human Resources.

INSTRUCTIONS

You will be asked for the following specific information to complete the application. Have the following available for reference:

  • Certification Information if applicable
          (To verify certification, go to State Board for Educator Certification - SBEC).

  • Colleges/Universities attended, graduation date, degree earned and
          major subject.

  • From/To dates of teaching, student teaching and non-teaching experience, name of organization/school/university, name of supervisor/principal and contact phone number.

  • References including names, addresses and phone numbers.

    PLEASE NOTE:

    • If you have teaching experience, this reference must be completed by your current principal OR
    • If you are a student teacher, this reference must be completed by your supervising teacher OR
    • If you have not taught or done student teaching, this reference must be from your most recent supervisor(s) according to your Work Experience on the application.

  • Copy of Transcript(s) (mail/fax copy to Human Resources)

TIPS FOR ONLINE APPLICATION

Certain fields have been identified with an asterisk (*). These fields are required and you will not be allowed to submit your application unless these fields are completed.

You will also need to press the TAB key to move from field to field. DO NOT press the enter key.

When entering phone numbers, only input the numbers. DO NOT try to enter dashes, hyphens or parentheses.

When entering dates, follow the format indicated, i.e., (MM/DD/YYYY) equals 05/30/2004.

When you have completed a page, click on the CONTINUE button on the bottom of the page to save your information and move to the next page.

When you have completed the application you will be able to print a hard copy for your records.

It is anticipated that the application process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Once you have submitted your application you will receive the message, "Your application has been successfully submitted. Thank you for applying with Spring Branch ISD." If you have provided a valid e-mail address, an e-mail will be sent to that address confirming the receipt of your application.

Any falsification of records will disqualify you from consideration for employment with Spring Branch Independent School District.
