Spring Branch Education Foundation Names Chairs for 2009 Crystal Awards Gala

Wendy and Ben Moreland have accepted the positions as chairs of the 16th annual Crystal Awards Gala slated for Friday, March 6, 2009, at The Westin Galleria. The event, “An Evening to Honor Teachers – Our Homegrown Heroes,” will recognize six outstanding educators selected from eight Gulf Coast counties, 46 Spring Branch ISD Teachers of the Year and 39 Wal-Mart Teachers of the Year for 2008.
               
“The Gala, which was sold out last year, is a perfect opportunity for the community to honor the men and women who do so much to prepare our children for their future,” said Wendy Moreland. “We are putting together a hard-working committee and look forward to a successful and fun evening.”
               
Ben Moreland has served on the SBEF Board of Directors for the past five years.

Sponsored by the Spring Branch Education Foundation and the Houston Chronicle, the evening’s proceeds benefit educational and enrichment programs in the Spring Branch ISD and the Chronicle’s Readers Are Leaders program. Wal-Mart has stepped up again this year as the Gala’s Platinum Crystal Underwriter.
