SBEF SPONSORED EVENTS

The Foundation collaborates with area businesses and volunteers to sponsor three popular annual fundraising events: The Tenth Annual Golf Classic, the Crystal Awards for Outstanding Teachers in conjunction with the Houston Chronicle and the Running for the Arts 5K Run, presented by Memorial City Mall and the SBISD Council of PTA’s. These events alone have raised over $1 million dollars to enhance the quality of education for SBISD students.

Annual Running for the Arts
Funding cultural arts field trips for SBISD students

The Arts Partners is a citywide collaboration between the cultural arts community of Houston and the Houston area school districts. SBEF’s annual “Running for the Arts” is a 5k walk/run that raises funds to allow SBISD students, grades 1-8, to attend field trips to cultural arts performances.

The Foundation's annual golf tournament has been a success since its inception in 1996.  The tournament was started to honor the Foundation's Founding Chairman, Jimmy Stewart of Stewart & Stevenson Services, inc.

Annual Crystal Awards for Outstanding Teachers

2008 CRYSTAL AWARDS CELEBRATION
Location: Westin Oaks

Since 1993, SBEF has sponsored this annual event in partnership with the Houston Chronicle and other local businesses. Six educators receive honors as “Outstanding Teacher” and are selected by the Houston Chronicle from over 1,600 nominees from Gulf Coast area public and private schools throughout Harris, Brazoria, Fort Bend , Waller, Montgomery , Liberty , Chambers and Galveston Counties.
