Bridgeway Charitable Foundation Supports SBISD through SBEF Grant

Spring Branch ISD students at all grade levels will benefit from a grant Bridgeway Charitable Foundation awarded to the Spring Branch Education Foundation. The grant, which totals $42,000, was designated for the J. Landon Short Mini Grant Program and for programs that support the district’s goal to be the premier college-focused district in the State of Texas.
            “Bridgeway is committed to making a difference,” says Mike Rome, director of business development, Bridgeway Capital Management. “We believe in education, and SBISD is a strong organization which works toward helping all students in all situations.”
            J. Landon Short Mini Grants for Educators enhance student learning by stimulating teacher creativity. Teachers’ grant applications, submitted individually or as a team, are evaluated for measurable benefits to students, originality and alignment with TAKS objectives. Grants, up to $500 each, are awarded to winning proposals in two categories: general studies and science.
            In its efforts to prepare students for college, the district has seen its students score rank among the highest in the area on the SAT exam and well above state and national averages. The district had 20 National Merit Scholars in 2005-2006 graduating class; 32 in 2006-2007.
