This Saturday, March 5, adult artist-teachers Dr. Phyllis Miller, Dana Wade and Cathy Nieman will offer classes in monoprinting techniques, sandpaper prints and personal card making at the Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum. Teenagers from 17 area school districts, including Spring Branch ISD, practiced emergency triage and fire suppression during a final exam drill held Feb. 18 at the Harris County Fire and Sheriff's Training Academy in Humble. A health fitness teacher at Westchester Academy for International Studies has been awarded a grant from the National Football League's Play 60 program. In recent weeks, students in Ann King's class focusing on physical health and nutrition have hosted a Houston Texan and earned widespread local television and newspaper coverage. Read more >>

About 100 interested community members attended a special Legislative Town Hall meeting Feb. 24 in the SBISD Administration Building at 955 Campbell Road. Three members of the Texas House of Representatives took the time to attend this important forum, which focused on the state's looming deficit of $15 billion or more. The operation of our public schools is tied largely to school funding at the state level.
