In November 2007, the Spring Branch ISD community overwhelmingly approved a bond program that calls for the replacement of 12 elementary schools. Wilchester Elementary School is one of the 12 schools designated to be replaced. The original plan calls for the Wilchester project to go out for bid in 2014 with completion anticipated in 2016.

The district has asked for community input on accelerating the rebuilding of Wilchester Elementary School. After receiving input over four meetings, Superintendent of Schools Duncan F. Klussmann, Ed.D., has decided to form a Wilchester Community Task Force to determine the best way to move forward with the replacement of the school. He will ask the Task Force to complete its review and make recommendations by Oct. 1, 2009.

“I appreciate all of the input and commitment of those in the Wilchester community to maintain and enhance a great school community. I believe the formation of the Task Force will allow a thorough investigation and identify the best manner to move forward with the project,” Dr. Klussmann said.

“I have asked Wayne Schaper Jr., Director of Academies and Transitions, who is involved in bond program implementation, to facilitate the Task Force. The Task Force will include, but not be limited to, the Wilchester Campus Improvement Team, campus PTA leadership, representatives of the Westchester Academy Campus Improvement Team, and two members from each neighborhood association in the Wilchester boundaries.

“As the result of the formation of this Task Force, I will not be making any recommendation on this project to the Board of Trustees prior to Oct. 1, 2009,” he said.

Thank you for your commitment to the entire Wilchester Elementary community and SBISD.
