Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Bond 2017
Summary of Proposed work
Career & Technical Education (CTE) courses and pathways are an integral part of the student experience in SBISD secondary schools. As CTE closely monitors industry needs, and designs programs to meet those needs, it is critical that equipment and technology used in student courses mirror that used in industry. The bond presents an opportunity to update and refresh aging equipment in our existing CTE programs.
The bond also provides for the creation of a CTE Task Force comprising of school, community and business stakeholders. The task force will inform the vision of CTE and potential long-term investments in facilities.
SBISD currently offers 38 distinct CTE pathways within 14 career clusters. Over the course of their secondary studies, more than 75% of SBISD students will have taken at least one CTE course.
