Transportation
Bond 2017
Summary of PROPOSED work
As a part of the 2017 Bond Plan, the district is proposing to purchase 91 buses to replace a portion of the aging fleet (83 regular route and eight special needs). The new buses purchased will be some combination of propane and diesel buses. New state law requires that any buses purchased after Sept. 1, 2017, must have seat belts unless a district cannot afford them or the board votes to not provide them.
Spring Branch ISD currently has 266 buses in its fleet. The life expectancy of a bus is 15-18 years. SBISD has 81 buses that are 0-5 years old; 136 buses are 6-10 years old; and 49 that are 11-15 years old.
