Elementary Social Studies (K-5)

“The primary purpose of social studies is to help young people develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.” – NCSS

"We believe social studies involves students in a systematic study of history, geography, economics, society, and government. Social studies empowers students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and participating members of local, state, national, and global communities."–NCSS
