Director of PreK & Early Childhood
Welcome to the PreK & Early Childhood department. Our commitment has always been to provide the strongest start possible for each of our students. We are very proud of our programs where children learn through enriched curriculum and projects focusing on authentic problem solving.
Spring Branch ISD leads the nation in its support of early learning and its commitment to good first teaching. To create self-motivated, life long learners, early childhood programs, Spring Branch ISD provides a developmentally appropriate, integrated curriculum that enhances the social/emotional, intellectual, aesthetic, and physical development of each child while nurturing autonomy, self-esteem, and success.
Multi-Classroom Leader for Prekindergarten
This is my 31st year of teaching and I love what I do more than I did when I first began teaching.
I was born and raised in Houston. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher so it was a natural decision for me to pursue a career in education. I attended Ole Miss for my first two years of college (GO REBELS!) before graduating from HBU with a BS in Education, specializing in Elementary Education and Early Childhood. In addition, I have a Masters of Education in Language Arts from the University of St. Thomas. Currently, I am enrolled to begin a cohort between SBISD and Texas Tech to earn a Graduate Certification in Personalized Learning.
Spring Branch has afforded me so many incredible opportunities, and I feel honored to be a part of this team. Some of these opportunities I have been afforded include child care, Opportunity of Culture, Presenter’s Academy and the District Improvement Team. When I am not working, I am spending time with my large Houston family, volunteering at my children’s schools, and watching the Houston Astros!
My motto has always been, “Love What You Do” and I certainly do!
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with teachers and students as a Spring Branch ISD Prekindergarten Coach. This is my 13th year in education, having previously taught Kindergarten, Second grade, and most recently, Prekindergarten at the Lion Lane School. I am a proud graduate from the University of Houston and received my Master’s degree in Educational Technology from The University of Texas. My evenings are often spent volunteering or spending time with my two handsome grandsons. I am so excited to be collaborating with the wonderful and dedicated PreK teachers of SBISD, and I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact our collaboration will have on our students.
Prekindergarten Coach - Bilingual
For the last 17 years, I have been a Prekindergarten Teacher and an Inclusion Specialist at the Lion Lane School in Spring Branch ISD, where students are encouraged to be self-motivated lifelong learners. I am a proud graduate of St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education. My favorite pastime is spending time with my 16-year-old son. I am excited to be a Prekindergarten Coach, and I look forward to a great year collaborating with teachers to implement effective practices through personalized instruction.
I am a proud graduate Spring Woods High School and of the University of Houston-Downtown. In 2007, I graduated with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a certification in EC-4 Bilingual Education. I began my journey in education as a paraprofessional. It was in a prekindergarten classroom, that I discovered my passion for early childhood education. In 2008, I began my teaching career as a bilingual classroom teacher at the Lion Lane School for Early Learning. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students in both the bilingual and mainstream settings. I am also a graduate of the first Early Literacy Leadership Academy cohort through Rice University School Literacy and Culture. This opportunity has helped me grow professionally and I am now serving Rice SLC as a mentor and presenter. I aspire to continue growing as I navigate the world of coaching.
Early Childhood Administrative Assistant
I look forward to supporting the Early Childhood Dept. as part time administrative assistant. I retired from SBISD in June 2016 after working over 26 years. I started in the district at Thornwood Elementary in 1989 and worked there for 8 years, working with the Bilingual ESL Dept. for one and a half years and at Housman Elementary for 16 years. I believe that a positive attitude, sharing a contagious smile and having a team spirit is what makes you successful in anything you do. Family is very important to me. I have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and have been happily married for 37 years. I enjoy singing in the church choir and being surrounded by friends and family. I am excited to be part the SBISD family and joining the Learner’s Journey to support the Spring Branch T-2-4 goal.
