The income survey form is for families to fill out the below campuses. Families are annually asked to still submit the districts Income Survey Form annually which is separate compared to the Free and Reduced Application for Non-CEP campuses.

Please visit the Food Allergies page to read read the complete information about dietary accommodations. The Diet Modification Form must be filled out completely by filling out the following information:

• Be signed by a licensed physician
• Identify the child’s medical condition/disability
• Include an explanation of why the disability restricts the child’s diet
• Identify the major life activity affected by the disability
• List the food or foods to be omitted from the child’s diet and the food or choice of foods that must be
• substituted

Provide the completed form the student's school nurse.

NOTE: Dietary accommodations that require the purchase of specific items may not be available immediately. Please allow up to 6 weeks to receive the first delivery of special order.

*SBISD only provides dietary accommodations for students with disabilities, life-threatening food allergies, and physician-certified medical needs.

Yes! You can place limits on the amount of ala carte purchases your child makes on their School Cafe account.

School Nutrition Services is reimbursed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for each "complete" or "reimbursable" meal served. This applies only for first meals served to students. Second meals served are not reimbursed by the USDA, therefore, second meals will be charged in order to cover the cost of the meal.

Answer:

The intent of the National School Lunch Program is to provide nutritious and low cost meals to children. Since this program is for children, there is no federal assistance for meals served to adults. Therefore, the adult meal charge has to be at least a combination of the basic reimbursement rate plus the guaranteed value of USDA commodities (per plate) and higher than the highest charge to the child in the school district. An adult should receive the same size meal as that of a secondary student for the established charge.

Answer:

Barcodes are distributed to your child through an ID tag to be used for meal and a la carte purchases. If the barcode is used by someone other than the legitimate holder, the register will notify the cashier that the account is being abused. The cafeteria manager will take steps to rectify this situation. Your child’s account will not be charged for unauthorized usage.

A parent can always obtain a detailed report on available meal money and meal transactions in the student’s account. This information can be accessed through your SchoolCafé account or by contacting School Nutrition Services.

Please remember that the student barcode issued belongs to your son or daughter. This should not be shared with other students. When your student scans in his/her barcode, your student’s name will also appear on the screen. It would be helpful if you would discuss with your child that their barcode needs to be kept confidential.

Answer:

No. As a department, we are required to offer milk but students are not required to take a milk with their breakfast or lunch meal.

Students at K-12 campuses are able to decline any portion of the breakfast or lunch meal. However, the student must still have a "complete" meal. If a "complete" meal is not taken then the student will be charged a la carte for each item taken.

All snacks sold in our schools are considered "Smart Snacks". Smart snacks in schools is a collaborative effort between the USDA and the US Dept of Education. Smart Snacks support healthy living and learning with standards for foods and beverages sold in schools during regular campus hours.

Please view the Smart Snacks Guideline Handout to see the nutrition standards for the snacks or a la carte items we sell during lunch. 

*If you do not wish for your child to purchase smart snacks or you would like to place restrictions on the amount of smart snacks purchased, you may do so on their School Cafe account. 

Answer: 

If your child has money left in his/her account at the end of a school year, the money will be available on the first day of school the following year. This is true whether the child remains in the same school or moves to another Spring Branch ISD school.

You may also receive a refund if you would like. Please visit the "Meal Payments and Refunds" page to see what steps to take in order to do so.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/USDA-OASCR%20P-Complaint-Form-0508-0002-508-11-28-17Fax2Mail.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
