FILING A COMPLAINT

To file a complaint against a police officer, it is necessary to submit a written complaint signed by the individual making the complaint. If the person making the complaint is under 18, the complaint should also be signed by their parent or guardian.

An official Complaint Form is available for anyone wishing to file a complaint against police personnel. To file an official complaint, obtain a Complaint Form from the Spring Branch ISD Police Department either in person or downloaded here. Complete the form and have it notarized. The completed form must be submitted to the Police Department between 7:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.

When completing the Complaint Form, include the following key information: your name, address, and phone number; the name of the employee against whom the complaint is made; the date, time, and location of the incident; and the names of any witnesses. Once completed, the Complaint Form will be forwarded to the Chief of Police.

INVESTIGATION PROCESS

Upon receiving a complaint, the Chief of Police will review and assign it to an investigator. The investigator will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. After completing the investigation, the investigator will provide their recommendation to the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police will then assess the recommendation and make a final determination regarding the complaint.
