(Board of Trustees policies BJA (Legal) and BJA (Local) provide descriptions of the duties of the Superintendent.)

Current Role

  • Responsible for the daily operation and leadership of the District. Oversees an organization with a $300 million budget serving 35,000 students and 4,800 employees.

BIOGRAPHY & RESUME

Dr. Muri was previously the Deputy Superintendent of Academics in Fulton County Schools (FCS) in Atlanta. FCS is the fourth largest school district in Georgia, serving 96,000 students on over 100 campuses, with a staff of 14,000. Like Spring Branch, it serves a highly diverse community, including students from high wealth and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Dr. Muri's vision for his role as Superintendent is to ensure that every single student in Spring Branch is learning every single day. His collaborative leadership style will help the system move forward in reaching it's singular goal of doubling the number of students completing a technical certificate, military training, two-year or four-year degree.

AN EDUCATOR AT HEART

Dr. Muri believes that every child is an individual learner and that the ‘big picture’ is only effective when it ties to each student – a belief shared and reflected in SBISD's core value of EVERY CHILD – and that the catalyst in this equation is a great teacher and a great principal.
