Celebrating Our Veterans

Spring Forest Middle Hosts Annual Veterans Day Event

More than 120 U.S. military veterans from Spring Branch were honored Nov. 11 by students and staff at Spring Forest Middle School during the annual Veterans Day Celebration held at the west Houston campus.

Since its start 13 years ago with about 40 veterans, Spring Forest Middle’s event has grown into one of the area’s largest student salutes to all those who have and continue to serve our nation. Heritage Texas Properties on Memorial Drive has been event sponsor for several years now.


Westchester Academy of International Studies (WAIS) Earns MYP as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School
Officials at WAIS received notification recently that the district charter middle and high school has been authorized to offer students the five-year Middle Years Programme (MYP) as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Read more >>

Fall Festival Marks Successful Revival

The Landrum Lions Alumni Association Committee hosted the first Fall Festival at Landrum Middle School in more than a decade recently. The festival held on Nov. 2 ranks as an amazing revival story all its own, raising thousands of dollars for new scholarships to benefit seniors who graduate from Northbrook High School and are Landrum Middle alumni. SBISD Celebrates Good Neighbors Class of 2013

This month, during the eighth annual Good Neighbor Recognition Program, SBISD recognized and honored its entire Class of 2013 Good Neighbors. The dinner program highlighted SBISD’s adoption of a five-year goal, known as Spring Branch T-2-4.

The Good Neighbor designation is earned by individuals, groups, campuses and organizations that perform three or more activities that support the district, an individual school or the Spring Branch Education Foundation (SBEF). SBISD campuses may also earn the designation by giving back to the community. During the 2012-13 school year, 219 groups and individuals were named as Good Neighbors for their efforts. Read more >>
