Board Election 2013

The Results Are In

Two current Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees members, Pam Goodson and Bob Stevenson, have been re-elected, and new member Karen Peck has won the Position 7 seat of retiring Trustee Mike Falick, according to complete but unofficial May 11 Election Day voting results.

Results of the May 11 election will be canvassed and certified during the Board of Trustees Special Meeting now scheduled for May 21.

 
 

 
Bond 2007 Update: We're Building the Future

About 300 students, parents, teachers and community members gathered May 7 for a late afternoon groundbreaking ceremony at Valley Oaks Elementary School, 8390 Westview. Valley Oaks Elementary is the 12th elementary campus in Spring Branch ISD to be rebuilt under the 2007 Bond program. Read more >>

Rummel Creek Elementary Architectural renderings of the site and proposed new campus design were presented to the Board of Trustees at its Monday Workshop meeting. The board presentation is available for review on the SBISD Bond website. In all, 13 elementaries across the district are being totally rebuilt through the $597 million bond plan. So far, 10 new campuses have been completely rebuilt and opened across Spring Branch.

Summer Food Service Program

With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out.

SBISD provides free meals to children during the summer.
There are no income requirements or registration. Any child under age 18 may come to eat.

Sweeps at UIL for SBISD Students

SBISD student music groups completed UIL concert and sight-reading performances recently. In all, 21 groups received Sweepstakes ratings by earning a Division 1 rating in both concert performance and sight-reading. Stratford High School took 11 separate choir, band and orchestra groups to UIL, or the University Interscholastic League, competition and all of them received Sweepstakes trophies.

Scholarships for Test Prep

The SAT preparation company Appleton Learning recently awarded 15 test prep scholarships to students enrolled in the Spring Branch ISD Collegiate Challenge program.

The scholarships were awarded to Collegiate Challenge students who are enrolled at Spring Woods, Stratford and Northbrook high schools and Westchester Academy for International Studies.
