This class will allow you to pursue the type of artwork you want to excel in: “Acrylic painting, pen and ink, pen, ink and wash, oil painting, watercolor, sketching, etc.” You’ll work at your own pace and in your own style. You’ll receive gentle professional guidance to help you achieve a better image, whether you’re a beginner or have already started in your artistic endeavors. Lessons will focus on color, design, concept, technique and composition, etc. Materials list will be given first day of class.
This class is designed for both those with little or no ceramic experience but who want to expand their knowledge or refresh their skill as well as those with some proficiency who want to increase their technical skills. This course will take students through centering, maximizing volume, trimming, glazing techniques and studio safety. Students will create beautiful vases, masks, and sculptural forms. $40.00 materials fee payable to teacher.
Using basic drawing materials, students will explore the fundamentals of drawing. Through various hands-on activities, this course will touch upon observation, shape, line, negative space, and texture. This class is intended for BOTH students with little or no previous drawing experience OR experienced artists.
Learn floral arranging and bow making utilizing minimum amounts of purchased items and items from your own garden. Meet at the school for the first class and then go on a field trip to a local craft store to learn about supplies. The Instructor has previously owned her own floral shop and will be teaching you with fresh flowers and some silk flowers.
This is an 8 week course.
Su Yossunthorn is a graduate of the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas and received professional training for carving in Bangkok, Thailand. From working at Wynn in Law Vegas to settling in the Houston area, she turned specializing in fruit and vegetable carving and arrangement into her business. In this class, you will learn basic interior decorating; fabric selection, identifying various furniture styles, room design and furniture lay out, just to name a few, in a relaxed and fun environment. A few projects will include; creating/up-cycling a lamp, faux finishing and furniture painting. Shawn Clifton has a degree in Interior Design and has over 25 years of experience.
In this class, we will periodically travel to estate/garage sales and or resale shops to discover hidden treasures you may purchase or use something you already own. With the guidance of Shawn Clifton, a degreed Interior Designer with over 25 years of experience, you will learn how to restore these items to their former glory or give them a new life. During the semester, a few projects may include; faux finishing, furniture painting, basic upholstery, creating/up-cycling a lamp.
In this class we will focus on liquid watercolor as our main medium. We will start with a technique sheet that combines other materials with watercolor and some of the basics of watercolor. We will also use marbling, collage, colored pencils, china markers, patterns, painting outside the lines and more...If you are a beginner, this is the perfect class for you. Please join us, adults only. Supplies will be talked about at the first day of class. We will also take a field trip to Texas Art Supply on Voss.
